Off-Site Backup Retention
Nightly encrypted backups of one server, held somewhere that is not that server, and tested rather than assumed. Most backup failures are silent — the job stopped six weeks ago and nobody noticed until the restore was needed. We alert the morning one fails, and once a month we restore from it to prove it still works.
What you get
- A nightly encrypted backup of one server, held outside the machine and outside the account that runs it
- 30 days of retention, so you can go back past the day you noticed
- A monthly automated restore into a scratch environment, so the backup is known to work rather than known to exist
- An alert the morning a backup fails, instead of a report nobody opens
What this does not cover
- Restores you ask for. The monthly test is ours, to prove the backup is good; a restore you actually need is On-Demand Backup Restore at $45
- Retention beyond 30 days, including the multi-year retention some contracts and regulators ask for
- Anything that is not a server you run — Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace mailboxes, Shopify, SaaS accounts, laptops. Mailbox retention is Compliance Email Archiving in Email infrastructure
Who it fits
One server holding data you could not recreate from scratch. If that server is already on a hosting tier, nightly off-site backup is inside that price and buying this as well pays for the same thing twice.
